Performed at Kraak Gallery as part of the Lost Language exhibition, curated by Louise Woodcock.
Also performed at Late Night Live Art at Kraak.
The performance involves a projection of an excerpt from a short film I shot in Dungeness, Kent, as my grandparents prepared to move out of their home. Standing behind the projection screen, I paint over the projected film with ink, which bleeds through the screen, gradually eclipsing the image.
The piece was a personal response to the loss of my last link to this unique place, where members of my family have lived for generations.
The idea of occluding the image stems from video experiments I conducted at university whilst still very new to film- making, using bands of interference which built up through repeated re-filming of the screen.
